- What is a good cents-per-point value?
- It depends on the program and on what you would otherwise pay in cash. The only number that matters for one booking is whether the cash rate, minus award fees, divided by the points required, beats the price you would pay to buy those points. This calculator shows exactly that break-even.
- Why does the calculator ask for the buy price instead of assuming it?
- Programs change their sale price per 1,000 points constantly and often run promotions. Where we have verified the list price on the program’s Points.com storefront we prefill it with the date we checked; otherwise enter the price shown on the purchase page for your account.
- Do points purchases earn elite status or expire?
- Purchased points do not count toward elite status in any of the programs listed, and they follow the program’s normal expiration rules. Check the program terms linked on the purchase page before you buy.
